I stayed at Idahostel on Dec. 9 and was very happy about it. It was very clean, and the owner was very friendly. It's located in the heart of downtown. The State Capitol was right around the corner, and there were lots of nice bars and restaurants nearby (eg, I love the natural beef burger at Red Feather Lounge). Initially, I worried about noise coming from the bars, but once I entered the building where the hostel is, it became very quiet, so I had a good sleep. Again, the hostel was very clean.
The only thing I didn't like (or expect) is that there's no on-site parking (since it's in downtown), but it was easy to find a street parking spot 1-2 blocks away. Also, if you're going to get up late on Saturday morning, don't park your car on 8th St from Bannock to Main, or Idaho St between Capital and 9th, because there's a Saturday Market event.
Also, there's no clear sign of the hostel from outside of the building. But I did have the correct address. You will see the entrance to the hostel when you're in the building.
