Upon Check-in all guests will be required to read and sign the following Rules/Code of Conduct:

HOUSE RULES:
1. Quiet Hours from 11:00pm to 8:00am shall be observed in the bunk and common areas. After 9pm, access to the facility is only allowed through the 24-hour eastern entrance.
2. We share the Idaho Building/N. 8th Street with many other tenants and businesses. Please be respectful of our neighbors at all times.
3. We occasionally host house art events. These events generally go until about 11pm, and often include bringing in members from the community, adult beverages, and music. We make no apologies for our events, as they are always super fun.
4. All food should be kept in the kitchen area.
5. No smoking is allowed anywhere in the building.
6. Damage to Idahostel property is the responsibility of the individual guest, and fees will be charged to repair said damage.
7. Employ respectful behavior at all times. Any patron engaging in illegal, rowdy, or any other behavior deemed inappropriate by staff (including fighting, slander, harassment, etc.) will be required to vacate the premises immediately, without refund.
8. Consuming alcohol in any designated sleeping area is prohibited. Alcohol is only allowed to be consumed in the common area until 11pm. All "partying" should be done at the bars or elsewhere. Guests coming in after hours are required to be quiet and respectful of others who may be sleeping.
9. The use or suspicion of possession of illegal drugs will result in immediate expulsion from the facility.
10. Please be considerate of other guests and the environment with regard to the bathroom facility. Shower quickly and do not leave soap, shampoo, etc. in the bathrooms.
11. Keep your belongings in a tidy manner in the dormitories.
12. Idahostel is in no way responsible for lost or stolen property.
13. Idahostel includes a private, 24-hour manager's residence. Staff on-site reserves the right to refuse service to anyone at anytime if they are breaking any of the aforementioned rules or acting in a disrespectful manner.
14. No refunds.
15. Maximum stay is 14 days, unless other arrangements have been made with staff.

1. General:

 

Q. Do you have Internet access for guests?

A. Yes, there is WiFi throughout the building. 

Q. Do you provide any meals?

A. No, however we do have a kitchenette in the common space.

Q. Is there a TV?

A. The common area has a flatscreen TV, and we periodically do “movie night.” Check with staff ahead of time to see what we’ll be up to any given day. 

Q. Is there parking available?

A. Yes. There is convenient on-street parking in several locations within walking distance; OR you can pay for parking in one of several nearby garages. Our staff can point you in the right direction when you arrive.

Q. Is there public transportation near the hostel?

A. Yes, Boise is home to an up-and-coming bus system that runs all around adjacent streets, although we recommend walking or biking when possible, as most things are very close by. The Greyhound station is 4 blocks west.

Q. Do you have long term luggage storage?

A. No

 

2. Hours/Bookings:


Q. When can I check in/out?

A. We are open for guest check-in from 3pm until 11pm daily; check-out is 11am.

Q. Do you have a lockout during the day?

A. No, however for cleaning purposes we encourage guests to enjoy a day out and about. If you choose to hang out during cleaning hours (11am-3pm) you may be asked to lend a hand. 

Q. Do you have a curfew at night?

A. No. When you check in, you will receive a door code for coming in the building after hours.

Q. What if I want to stay an extra night?

A. While we recommend booking for the entire duration of your stay in Boise, we will work with you and let you know if it looks like we’ll be full over upcoming days.

 

3. Costs:


Q. How much does it cost per night?

A. Dormitory beds are $19-$23 per night per person depending on the season.

Q. Do you accept credit cards?

A. We are cash ONLY.

Q. Do you offer any discounts?

A. Available discounts will be published on our website on a seasonal basis.


4. Safety:


Q. Will my personal belongings be safe while I’m out and about?

A. Yes, although as with any communal environment we recommend that people lock up items such as cameras, passports, travelers checks and laptops. We offer complimentary locked storage on-site. Since we run tight security, only registered guests are allowed in the dorms.

Q. Is the hostel located in a safe part of Boise?

A. We are located in the best part of downtown; however, due to the fact that this is a major city, we recommend that guests always keep their street smarts when out.

 

5. Requirements to Stay:


Q. Do I need a hostel membership to stay?

A. No, however we will require valid identification. 

Q. What type of identification do you require?

A. Since we are a small travelers hostel, all guests must show a valid passport or an American Drivers license upon check-in. Guests may also be asked to present other documents.

Q. Do you have minimum or maximum stay requirements?

A. There is no minimum stay. Guests who wish to stay longer than two weeks should talk with the manager once you are here to see if we can set you up with a work exchange or long term discount.  

Q. Do you require your guests to do chores?

A. No, however in keeping with the most basic of hostel traditions, we do expect guests to clean up after themselves. If you are present during cleaning hours, we always appreciate a hand.

Q. Do I need to bring bedding?

A. No, in your room you will find everything you need: clean sheets, blankets and pillows.

Q. Are pets allowed?

A. No. 

Q. Are there age requirements? How much does it cost for children/minors?

A. Minors (under 18) are required to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Remember, you will likely be sharing the room with other people and should determine ahead of time if your child is prepared for the hostel environment. That said, we look forward to having groups of traveling students (minors) coming through, and we fully encourage them to experience all of the historical and artistic benefits of being in the heart of the City.

 

6. The Facility:


Q. Are there any private/double rooms available?

A. During certain times of year we may offer small private rooms. Check with us beforehand. 

Q. Do you have single sex or mixed dorms or both?

A. We will offer varied dorm configurations depending on demand. If you prefer to be with mostly people of your sex, then ask and we’ll happily do what we can to accommodate.

Q. How many people per guest room?

A. This varies from 4 to 10 people depending on the season and bed availability. 

Q. Do you have a kitchen?

A. Yes we have a kitchenette including, burner top, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, plates, glassware, and silverware. We require all guests to clean up after they are done using the kitchen facility.

Q. Is there a place to do laundry?

A. Yes, but due to the fact that we are busy during the day cleaning the hostel, we do it for you in order to avoid crowding of the washers/dryers. You give us your dirty clothes and we wash them while you are out enjoying yourself. We do this for $5 per load. 

Q. Can I drink alcohol at the hostel?

A. Yes, we do allow drinking, in moderate levels for patrons 21+. However, we are not a "party" hostel and therefore expect a certain level of maturity from our guests.

Q. Is smoking allowed?

A. No, there is no smoking allowed anywhere in the building.
